Block scam calls on Android

Scam callers do not rely on one tactic. Some mimic local numbers, some look verified, some switch to text messages, and some keep calling until they catch you at a bad moment. The current app has separate defenses for each part of that behavior.

What scam calls usually look like

• Authority pressure: bank, carrier, delivery company, government, or fake tech support.
• Urgency: act now, your account is locked, you owe money, or stay on the line.
• Spoofing: a local-looking number, a borrowed business number, or a failed STIR/SHAKEN verification.
• Escalation to text: suspicious follow-up texts that contain phishing links or payment bait.

Block Guard features that matter most for scam calls

• Known spam database for numbers already flagged locally on-device.
• Neighbor spoofing and anti-spoofing checks for fake local or verification-failed callers.
• Warn-only alerts for borderline suspicious calls that still ring.
• Adaptive AI for ambiguous calls where metadata and your local training history matter.
• Dangerous link warnings in messages when a scammer follows up by text.

Use the review tools after a scam attempt

• Open the blocked-call detail screen to see why a number matched.
• Use Report spam, Block similar, Whitelist, or Allow once depending on what happened.
• Check Protection Center recommendations if you are still missing protections like known spam or spoofing checks.
• Use Analytics and Weekly Report to confirm whether scam traffic is dropping or just changing pattern.

Safety education is built into the app now

Block Guard is no longer only a blocker. The app includes Help Center content, scam-pattern explanations, and safety resources covering fake support scams, OTP and bank-code scams, urgency threats, and irreversible payment scams like gift cards or crypto.
